Jacob C. Varghese, MJourn, MS, MIPH, is currently the executive director of AroGyaan and country director of the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) India. AroGyaan is the implementing partner of I-TECH in India, based in Chennai, registered under the Societies Act of Tamil Nadu. Previously, Mr. Varghese was the scientific affairs specialist, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), India, based in Chennai, India, under the Consulate General of the United States. During his career, which spans 28 years, Mr. Varghese has received several national and international awards and scholarships, which include the South Asia Fundraising Award in 1995 and 2000 and the Meritorious Honor Award from the US Mission in India (State Department) in 2003 and 2005. Mr. Varghese holds a master's degree in journalism; a master of science in communication from Kentucky State University, in the United States; and a management degree in international public health from the CDC in Atlanta. He is a short-course alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
